This groundbreaking event, an extension of the renowned Bonspiel on the Lake, grants you the unique opportunity to indulge in the ancient sport of natural ice curling, as it was first played in days of yore.
Greetings, brave contenders of the Invermere District Curling Club Hunger Games! Prepare yourselves for an extraordinary adventure on the hallowed ice of Lake Windermere. This groundbreaking event, an extension of the renowned Bonspiel on the Lake, grants you the unique opportunity to indulge in the ancient sport of natural ice curling, as it was first played in days of yore.
Behold, this is a three event bonspiel, with a guarantee to play at least three games! The inaugural draws shall commence on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 6:00PM. As you battle for placement in the A, B, and C events, the Bonspiel on the Lake participants will feast at their banquet! This is the very reason we have dubbed this bonspiel “The Hunger Games”!
But the adventure does not end there, valiant competitors. All who partake in this grand event are heartily invited to join the esteemed Bonspiel on the Lakers at the Columbia Valley Centre, nestled at 646 Fourth Street, Invermere. There, an enchanting Saturday after-dinner Dance awaits, accompanied by a tantalizing cash bar, transforming the night into a spectacle of celebration and revelry!
The Finals in all three events will take place on Sunday, January 19, 2025, alongside the Finals of the Bonspiel on the Lake.
Do not forget, registrations are to be submitted by TEAM, allowing you the freedom to conjure forth a team name that echoes through the ages! And should you desire to infuse further delight, feel free to don whimsical and outlandish curling attire, ensuring both spectacle and warmth amidst the frigid air.
Prepare yourselves, for trophies of grandeur shall be bestowed upon those who emerge victorious from these Games. Rise to the challenge, embrace the spirit of The Hunger Games, and etch your names into the annals of curling legend!
Should the forces of nature prove unyielding, and the lake be deemed unfit for curling on Saturday, January 18, our hearts will be heavy, and the event will be canceled. However, rest assured that each registered team will receive a full refund, their honour intact.
